Street Smart Success: Kyle Murray’s Journey from Trainee to Franchise Owner

When you walk into the new Mister Minit store at Port Adelaide Shopping Centre, you’ll likely meet Kyle Murray — one of the youngest franchise owners in Mister Minit’s history. At just 21, Kyle’s story is a heartfelt reminder that success isn’t always about books and classrooms — it’s about passion, perseverance, and the courage to give things a go.

Kyle’s journey began at Mister Minit Elizabeth, where his dad Dominic has owned and operated for years. When Kyle told his parents he was “street smart, not school smart,” he wasn’t giving up — he was ready to find his own way.

“I was hesitant when he first asked to help out on weekends,” Dominic recalls. “But with Chairman Mark Rusbatch encouraging me to ‘give the kids a go,’ I decided to give Kyle a chance — and I’m so glad I did.”

Kyle quickly proved he had what it takes. Customers started asking for him by name, drawn to his craftsmanship and friendly attitude. He developed a deep interest in car keys, mastering cutting and programming long before he even had his drivers licence.

Those skills — and his determination — didn’t go unnoticed. The late Area Manager, James Mullen, recognised Kyle’s potential early on, saying, “This kid’s gonna be a star.”

Fast forward to now, and that prediction has come true. Using the money he’d carefully saved, Kyle has opened his own Mister Minit franchise at Port Adelaide. It’s an incredible achievement — one built on hard work, hands-on learning, and the unwavering support of his family and the Mister Minit community.

As Chairman Mark Rusbatch puts it, “Kyle is the perfect example of what can happen when we invest in young talent — his story is one of grit, growth, and genuine skill.”

Here’s to Kyle and his exciting new chapter — and to every young person out there ready to take a chance and build their own success, one key, shoe, or watch battery at a time.

Come down and visit this terrific young man at Mister Minit Port Adelaide and wish him well.
